OILY WASTEWATER
COLLECTION
Oily wastewater, generated by Universal customers, is collected and transported to a Universal facility. Before unloading, the oily wastewater is analytically tested for the required parameters, processed, and the oil is recovered. This is done by using a combination of common wastewater treatment technologies that include filtration, dissolved air flotation, metal precipitation, and biological treatment. The pre-treated wastewater is then discharged to a publicly owned treatment works (POTW). All facilities employed are compliant with the recently promulgated Environmental Protection Agency ruling, CFR: 40 Parts 136 & 437, “Effluent Limitations Guidelines, Pretreatment Standard, and New Source Performance Standard for the Centralized Waste Treatment Point Source”. |
